Who isn’t sick of the presidential race?

Happened across this on The Onion…funny!! And (unusually for the Onion) speaking a little bit to the truth of the matter. If only Hilary would go ahead and pull out — seems to be the only sensible thing to do. Otherwise we might be looking at years 8 to 12.

Cumming

Stay tuned for a race report from Cumming in the next couple of days…once I figure out exactly what happened there. As of now they still do not have the results up from what was a confusing and frustrating race.

More to come once I see the results and can figure out the end result.

On a different note — this has been a really great week. The first one out of school so I’m not working yet=lots of fun. DT in Clemson may not be great but one can, instead, go do a bonfire on the lake or head out to the quarry with some beer. And surprisingly, when grades were posted, I somehow pulled a 4.0. Beats the hell out of me. Particularly considering that I left a term paper undone until the morning after the Greenwood race (where I ate shit)

Last Couple of Days…

So, from a bike racing perspective, the last couple of days have been pretty exciting.  We –the team– finished out the USA Crits Speedweek in Spartanburg, Dilworth, and Sandy Springs…  Even better, Aldo got wins in Spartanburg and Dilworth…

Anyway, it was a tough couple of days of racing.  Spartanburg was just outright scary–blazingly fast on a poorly lit course with lots of crashes.  I got caught behind 3 of them–2 of which were massive pile-ups and found myself going about 40 kph up on the sidewalk once to avoid a crash… In short, it was NUTS!!!  I was so glad to be finished there–fresh road rash tends to make one a little tenative too!

Stay tuned for some photos from this Spartanburg and this weekend (Claire drove to Atlanta and back solo to take photos and watch the race!!–pretty crazy huh?

Terrible Day in Greenwood

So after a terrible day of racing in the downtown Greenwood cycling classic I can report in as having flatted twice (both front and rear), crashed once, and gotten a LOT of road rash.  Pretty bad considering I felt pretty good during the race and was sitting in the front 1/3 or so when the crash happened–even more frustratingly, with about 10 laps (about .6-.8 miles apiece) remaining in the in 90 minute race.   So after crashing–I went to the pits–got a neutral wheel (a Zipp 404–pretty sweet–and at this point I had two of them on the Airo) and took off.  Incidentally it was the last lap you could get free; with 8 to go when I rolled off.  But, one lap later, I was back in again with another flat.  Game Over.  Must have been some glass or something on the course.

But, on the upshot, I did get a chance to hang out with a friend from back home–she goes to Lander, in Greenwood–after the race.  Really the only positive spot–for me, personally–in a pretty awful day.  Crashing and finals; all in the same day.

Anyway, sorry for the rant of sorts.  Just had to vent some frustration after a rough day in the saddle (and classroom for that matter; honestly who really likes taking exams?)  But, stayed tuned for another update tomorrow with the race in Spartanburg.
